Radiant Futures

NPRE at UIUC is renowned for its expertise on the production, transport and interactions of radiation with matter, from nuclear fission and fusion to medical radiation and plasma engineering. Over the course of it's history, students, faculty and staff have made great accomplishments in industry, government and research. Routinely, new ideas have radiated out from the questioning minds, the creative hands and the tireless efforts of our NPRE community. But what if the community could do even more?

A group of alumni and faculty asked ourselves a simple question:

What would happen if we purposely elevate awareness of entrepreneurship as a career choice, as a research outcome or whenever inspiration reaches criticality?

We see a future where the UIUC NPRE community reach extends to all corners of the globe.  A future where our department is synonymous for novel solutions in plasma engineering, radiological science, medical physics, materials science, homeland security, reliability and risk and other related applications.

To help build this future, we have created the Radiant Futures advisory board with a mission of achieving ignition of new venture ideas from within the UIUC NPRE community.

Whether you are an undergrad with an idea for how to analyze complex reactor data or a grad student developing a new way to use plasmas in chip manufacturing or a faculty member thinking of new ways to use radiation, the Radiant Futures advisory board is here to help you advance from idea to sustainable endeavor and everywhere in between.

We are an extension of traditional entrepreneurial resources originating from and embedded in the NPRE community.  We bring decades of entrepreneurial experience across multiple successful ventures and we understand the deep nuclear tech that is the fundamental basis for your vision.
