SoTeRiA Lab set to co-host international conference on AI and risk analysis

NPRE’s Socio-Technical Risk Analysis (SoTeRiA) Research Laboratory is set to lead the upcoming Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management (PSAM) Topical Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Risk Analysis for Probabilistic Safety/Security Assessment & Management.”

SoTeRiA is hosting this virtual conference in collaboration with colleagues from several international organizations, including the Department of Energy at Politecnico di. Milano, Center of Research on Risks and Crises at Mines Paris-PSL University, Idaho National Laboratory,  U.S. Nuclear Reglatory Commission (NRC), University of California Los Angeles, Paul Scherrer Institute, Chosun University, and NuScale Power LLC.

This topical conference will be held virtually on October 23-25, 2023 and will bring together AI and risk analysis experts from around the world to discuss innovative cross-cutting research and applications. For more information about the conference, please visit the conference website.

“The goal is to advance the science and applications of AI for risk analysis to facilitate risk-informed decision making for the safety of complex systems such as commercial nuclear power plants and advanced reactors, civil aviation, and oil industries,” said NPRE associate professor Zahra Mohaghegh, SoTeRiA’s director and the General Co-Chair for the conference.

Mohaghegh added that this conference will complement the well-known series of comprehensive PSAM conferences by focusing on a more specific, targeted topic.
