For years NPRE alumni Terrill and Deborah Laughton have worked together to raise the profile of NPRE and the resources to build the Department’s programs.
The diligence and loyalty of the husband and wife team are being recognized through their selections as the 2013 winners of the NPRE Advocate Awards. Deborah, BS 95, and Terrill, BS 92, MS 96, are cited for “dedicated leadership in the grassroots efforts to build NPRE endowments, thereby promoting NPRE programs, honoring NPRE’s faculty and staff, inspiring fellow alumni, and rewarding outstanding students.”
The Laughtons, along with several other alumni, including Michael Giacobbe, BS 91, MS 95, PhD 99, and William L. Myers, BS 85, MS 90, PhD 95, were instrumental in establishing and building support for the Catherine Pritchard Scholarship Fund and the Barclay G. Jones Endowed Fellowship Fund, the first fellowship held entirely within NPRE. They have worked alongside Mike Giacobbe to fund the Alumni Constituent and Advisory Board Lecture Series. Their next goal is a campaign for building the Roy A. Axford Scholarship Fund.
