As a new member, the Center for Plasma-Material Interactions (CPMI), directed by NPRE Prof. David N. Ruzic, shared latest research endeavors with participants from three other universities and several industry representatives. Members were present from companies including General Motors, Kurt J. Lesker, and Starfire Industries.

Urbana campus Post-Doctoral Research Associates Vijay Surla and Randolph Flauta presented material on some current CPMI research initiatives. In addition, Ruzic proposed new ideas and spoke on future directions. Participants were later taken on a tour of the CPMI laboratory where they saw experiments up-close.

The mission of the I/UCRC program is to foster partnerships between university and industry, introducing “high-quality, industrially-relevant fundamental research, strong industrial support of collaboration in research and education, and direct transfer of university developed ideas, research results, and technology to U.S. industry to improve its competitive posture in world markets.”
