Faculty and Staff

• NPRE Prof. Rizwan Uddin and Adjunct Professor William R. Roy have been honored with the 2011 American Nuclear Society Student Chapter Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
• NPRE Distinguished Alumni Awards, as nominated by fellow alumni and presented by the department

Alumni

• "Bloom Box," a green energy fuel-cell system developed by NPRE alumnus K.R. Sridhar's company, Bloom Energy, has been named one of TIME Magazine's Best 50 Inventions of 2010.
• NPRE graduate Prashant Jain has earned a national honor for his modeling and simulation work on understanding two-phase dynamics to help improve operations of boiling water nuclear reactors (BWRs).

Students

• NPRE graduate student Bei Ye has won the Best Oral Presentation Award for a paper given recently at the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society TMS 2011 Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
• NPRE undergraduate Peter R. Fiflis has won an honorable mention in the Barry M. Goldwater scholarship competitions for the 2011–12 academic year.
• NPRE graduate student Brian R Kleinfeldt has gained national recognition for his leadership in guiding the American Nuclear Society Student Chapter at Illinois.

Organizations

• The University of Illinois American Nuclear Society Student Chapter won the national ANS Samuel Glasstone Award, recognizing the outstanding student ANS section of the past year.
